Build Your Own Battle Armor Part Deux

I received a lot of positive feedback for my previous post on building your own Iron Man inspired armor. However, several people felt like I needed to have something more sturdy than just the liquid body armor. Since I am all about meeting the needs of the people, I’m adding an additional armor option.

Inventor Troy Hurtubise has updated his personal armor. His 20 year “Project Grizzly” effort to build a personal protection suit that would protect its wearer from an ursine attacker has produced the latest iteration. This one, however, seems to be aimed at military use. He claims that the suit is bullet proof, weighs only 18 kg, and could be mass produced for only $2,000. You can read all about it here.

As a bonus, here is a video from YouTube showing some tests of his earlier suits. This man clearly believes in his armor. Warning: Don’t watch this while drinking.

I was so excited to see that someone else had a similar idea to mine. I am studying to become an engineer and in my free time I enjoy learning about these new extremes in technology. Sometimes I try to incorperate new things I find that Iron Man didn’t necessarily have. I would love to talk to the writer of this article even if just by email so we could bounce ideas back and forth. including an alternative to the power problem.

It looks awesome and I like how you converted one large bulky back power unit into to small pairs of lighter batteries and sensors but it could use a little more fluency in all directions

I too, was quite impressed. Who ever would have thought of such an idea. As for part 1, I find it very ironic, because I have researched everything mentioned. This may sound funny, but I am actually going to create a REAL Iron Man suit. I have the jet boots, powersource, human augumented muscular system( strength amplification), weaponry, etc. But before I get started I want to make sure i have everything. And this only reconfirmed my ideas, so thanks and God bless!
